The point of my questions has been to establish whether this guy would have had access to a central network. If he had, I believe that it would be possible to obtain a warrant to examine the network system.

I am making some calls on this in the morning (now 11 pm here) and will report back.

Their difficulty will be if some previous knowledge of his behaviour comes to light and is publicised. Or if something can be found on an internal WTBTS computer network he had access to.

still in grad school, and have a new (sort of) hobby.. i've always liked guns.

I was a British cop for 30 years. Never owned or carried a firearm. Faced a couple in my time.

Had a go with a few, including in the US. Didn't do a great deal for me, I'm afraid.

OK, I have thought of another route for this.

I will call a guy I know (I recruited him and used to be his boss) tomorrow (it's 10 p.m. here now). He has worked on computer crime cases (UK) with the FBI and still has contacts afaik.

I'll put together whatever I can from the site and the links and ask him to speak to his contacts to give them the full picture and suggest possible lines of enquiry.

Not much more I can do, I'm afraid. Now I'm retired I don't have the contacts I once did.

Thanks for that.

The reason I ask is that if anyone can give me a 'reasonable' reason, I'll call my friend in the US and ask - or beg - if necessary that he calls in favours and makes sure things are done right.

This would be a 'one-time' thing and would probably mean my calling in favours and the end of the friendship - but for this purpose I'd be happy to do it.
